At long last, Spring is finally here! To celebrate the change in seasons, students in second grade undertook their first major project in Spanish class: writing, illustrating, and recording an original book in Spanish. Our project is based on an online story published by SpanishPlayground called "La Primavera Llegó" (Spring Arrived). In this story, flowers of different colors announce that "The spring has arrived!" and in response, different people and animals complete various actions. After reading the story as a class, each student created their own page to add to our original versions of the story. In addition to writing and illustrating their pages, students also recorded themselves reading their sentences to add to the video.
I am so proud of the wonderful work these students have done and how much they have grown. We have a wide range of levels in our Spanish classes, ranging from students who may speak Spanish at home to those who are new to Runkle and have only started learning Spanish in the last few months. Regardless of their level, each and every student put a lot of thought and effort into their work, and it really shows in the final product! I hope you enjoy seeing their work as much as I do!
As you watch, you will see and hear the same sentence frame repeated:
Las flores (color) dijeron "La Primavera Llegó" y... - The (color) flowers said "Spring has arrived!" and...
What happens when the flowers announce Spring's arrival? Watch the videos below to find out!
